In the Talk About Art series Sarah Bearup-Neal conducts live interviews with local and regional artists about their art making and thinking. These insightful interviews take place monthly at 7:30 p.m., at the Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) at no charge.

Michigan Upper Peninsula resident Paul Rose comes downstate next month for a two-week winter residency with the Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA). Rose, a painter and photographer, begins his Artist-in-Residence (AIR) stay Jan. 12. He’ll talk about his work and experiences during the residency at a public presentation on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the GAAA, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.

Gerry Shiffman reports that the next Empire Area Community Emergency Fund Concert will be held on Sunday, December 22, from 4-6 p.m. at the Empire Township Hall. The feature performers for this event will be Empire’s own “Cabin Fever String Band”.

Head over to the Empire Township Hall on Thursday, Dec. 26 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for a conversation with Susanne Simpson, senior series producer of Masterpiece, which presents Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Mr. Selfridge and other programs on PBS.
