Barbecue and Brew!
The Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce expects as many as 1,000 attendees at its second annual BBQ and Brew Festival on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 2-6 p.m. in the park at the corner of M-22 and Lake Street. Proceeds will support bathroom maintenance and other projects at the new Glen Arbor Garden on Lake Street. The festival costs $15 ($10 for teetotalers); 12 and under are free. Last year’s inaugural festival drew 350 people despite rainy skies.
This year a host of Michigan craftsman brewers will serve beer ranging from heavy to light in order to please all kinds of tastes. The lineup includes Bell’s, Short’s, Right Brain, Arbor Brewing, Mt. Pleasant Brewing, Three Sergeants Brewing and Leelanau Brewing. Northwoods Soda and Cherry Republic will supply nonalcoholic beverages.
The festival will also feature a chicken barbeque cook-off, featuring regional chefs competing for bragging rights on their special barbecue sauces or rubs. Chicken barbeque was selected so that all chefs could compete on a level playing field.
Reginald Harris and The White Sidewall Review along with the Fabulous Curb Feelers will provide local entertainment. Formed in the 1970s, the band features oldies rock & roll and Elvis music. The band is a hit with local country clubs.
Come behold the fall splendor of Glen Lake and Leelanau County, and enjoy great beer, food and music. For more information visit the Glen Lake Chamber’s website at www.visitglenarbor.com.
