Art Association announces openings

Lori Feldpausch, plein air oil painter will have an exhibition at the Glen Arbor Art Association (GAAA) July 23-25 with a 6 p.m. until sundown opening on Friday and gallery hours Saturday 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 11-4. She grew up in the Upper Peninsula and paints northern Michigan’s unspoiled beauty. Feldpausch was one of the GAAA artists in residence in 2009.

Historical photographs by Frederick Dickinson and photographs by his daughter, Grace Dickinson Johnson will be on exhibit at the Glen Arbor Art Association July 30-31. Beginning in 1938 Frederick W. Dickinson operated a photography gallery on Glen Lake showcasing his photographs of the Sleeping Bear area, dune car rides, and Leland’s Fishtown. The opening will take place Friday, 6-10 p.m. with gallery hours Saturday from 1-4.

Jane Battieger, who paints primarily in oils, says she is celebrating five years of painting in the Leelanau Peninsula. “It is such a joy, because it is so beautiful.” Her show, to be held at the Glen Arbor Art Association, of new paintings, “Images of Leelanau” will open Friday, August 13, 6-9 p.m. and continue Saturday, August 14, 1-4.

Watercolor artist Celeste Crouch will exhibit August 20 and 21 at Glen Arbor Art Association. She finds her inspiration in the glorious vistas and beautiful scenery of Leelanau County. She has studied with master artists Ron Ransom, Alex Powers, Betty Carr and Arnie Westerman and loves the freshness and transparency that working with watercolor offers. Celeste’s show will open Friday, 6-9 p.m. and continue on Saturday from 1-5.
