published July 31, 2008

Press release
SummersingersWeb.jpgThe Glen Arbor Art Association’s Summer Singers will present a concert Tuesday, August 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church in Burdickville.
The 55-voice choir, which draws its members from Leelanau, Grand Traverse and Benzie counties, will sing a widely varied program of secular and sacred music, ranging from Randall Thompson’s “Choose Something Like a Star” to a vocal jazz arrangement of “Georgia on My Mind” to a Darmon Meader arrangement of the American folk song “Shenandoah”.

In its fifth summer, the choir is a mix of professional and nonprofessional musicians and beginners. It is open to singers who are only vacationing for a few weeks and full time residents of the area. The director is Richard DeVinney. Accompanist is Becky Jolliffe.
The concert is open to the public without charge.
