Over the course of one week late in 2018, Leelanau County lost some of its most impactful elders: Bernie Rink, George Weeks and Dean Robb.

Former business owner, social worker, community activist and nature lover Mollie Weeks passed away last month at age 78. Weeks, who is survived by her husband, political syndicated columnist and author George Weeks, left a lasting legacy in Glen Arbor.

Donald Jay Weeks, 51, of Elk Rapids, died May 2, 2011, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City after a short illness. Born June 11, 1959 in Lansing, he was a graduate of Glen Lake Community Schools in Leelanau County and Michigan State University.
