Northern Michigan’s rural landscape — and its iconic, historic farm buildings — are the focus of Frankfort painter Ellie Harold’s exhibition at Center Gallery. “Barn Love,” a show of plein air and studio oil paintings opens July 5, at the gallery, 6023 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.

Chicago-based graphic artist David Westerfield says he “paints what I like.” And what he likes is Leelanau County’s stunning landscapes, rustic buildings and historic places. An exhibition of Westerfield’s many likes opens June 28 at Center Gallery, 6023 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.

If there’s a theme to painter Jamie Miller’s work, it’s “the itch for northern Michigan”. The scratch for this Ada, Mich., artist’s itch is his aptly-titled exhibition “North,” which opens May 24 at Glen Arbor’s Center Gallery on Lake Street across from Cherry Republic.

Holland artist Susan Keen looks at the landscape then translates it into an abstraction of brilliant color and shape. An exhibition of her acrylic paintings opens at Center Gallery Aug. 17, 6 p.m. with a reception.

Lake Street Studios Center Gallery will feature the works of Honor, Mich., artist Susana Hubbard Green from July 27-29, with a reception on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. The gallery will be open Saturday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday 1-4 p.m.

“Pots and Paintings” fill Center Gallery at Lake Street Studios in Glen Arbor beginning June 1. This collaborative show features the work of painter Beth Bricker and potter Matt McGovern.
