Floating driver’s license
From staff reports
A funny thing happened to part-time Glen Lake resident Tom Wilson earlier this month. On July 19 he checked his mail at his Grand Rapids home, and found his driver’s license that had been sent by a family in Hamilton, Mich., who found it on a sandbar in Glen Lake.
“I hadn’t even missed it, so I was surprised when it arrived in the mail,” said Wilson. “I was out in our boat on Glen Lake (the week prior) and went swimming with some friends visiting our cottage. I had put my driver’s license in my swimsuit pocket and it must have fallen out when I was taking a dip in Little Glen at Wickhams Point.”
Wilson found the good Samaritan—Brad Slenk—on Facebook, and sent him a note of thanks. Wilson also sent a copy of his book, Vintage Views Along Scenic M-22 including Sleeping Bear Dunes.
“It was such a funny coincidence,” said Wilson. “Who knew that a driver’s license floats?”
