Cottonseed Apparel changes ownership on 30th anniversary in Glen Arbor

From staff reports

Thirty years after Marc and Diana Oberschulte opened Cottonseed Apparel in 1991 on the site of Glen Arbor’s original Post Office on the corner of M-22 and Lake Street, Laurenn Rudd and Elizabeth Morgan Gray have acquired the clothing store.

Rudd and Gray have been managers at the Cottonseed for several years and are well qualified to continue the business which offers unique gifts, accessories and quality natural fiber apparel, wrote the Oberschultes in a press release.

“I am proud to carry on the business that the Oberschulte family built with my business partner Lizzie Morgan,” Rudd wrote on Facebook, adding that she has worked for the Oberschultes since she was 16 years old, and initially split time between working at the Cottonseed and at The Totem Shop. “We are excited for what is ahead. Come shop with us!”

We featured Laurenn Rudd in August 2017 in a story about how her passion for business and fashion drew her back to northern Michigan after a stint in New York.
