Sleeping Bear Dunes to be featured on postage stamp
From staff reports
The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (the local branch of the National Park Service) will be featured on a commemorative stamp to be issued by the United States Postal Service on October 2. With Sleeping Bear Bay as the backdrop, 27 Lakeshore plants and animals are depicted on the pane honoring Great Lakes Dunes. The unveiling is to take place at the Park Headquarters in Empire, with local and national dignitaries present.
Glen Arbor postal worker Drew will be canceling the postage with a special stamp, and when they are available October 3, the Leelanau Coffee Roasting Co. has offered to carry them on its website, www.coffeeguys.com. Write mike@glenarborsun.com for more information.
