Glen Lake Woman’s Club 39th Annual Art Fair

To be held on Wednesday July 21 at the Glen Arbor Township Hall

• Proceeds are used for scholarships (over $10,000 each year) for area graduating seniors.

• There are always over 90 carefully chosen artisans with fine arts and quality crafts.

• The GLWC always has a booth with Tag Sale items.

• There will be a raffle with items donated by six area artists, four of whom will sell their items at the fair.

• The Fair began 39 years ago as a farmer’s market in front of the Glen Arbor Town Hall. After a few years, officials decided that it had to be moved from the front to the back, and then it began to grow as more space was found for more participants, which now number in excess of 90.

• There is almost 100 percent participation in the club — from the 23 committee chairmen to those who help out on fair day.

• It is estimated that over 2,000 people attend annually, making it the busiest day each year in Glen Arbor. It has become a tradition for many summer visitors to the area.

• Artisans come from as far away as Florida, and they bring jewelry, garden art, hand made clothing and many other wonderful items.

• The last several years the scholarship winners have assisted by carrying, giving breaks to the exhibitors, and helping with the concessions. They will be doing so again this year.

• The club is active in other area events. For example: beautification and maintenance of Old Settler’s park on Big Glen Lake and hosting the July 4th flag raising; maintaining the Old Settler’s Chapel (several weddings are held there each summer).
