Leelanau Peninsula Wine features sips & soups

Experience the magic of our wineries covered in a glistening blanket of snow, while sipping savory soups and hearty chilis paired with delicious Pinot Noirs, Rieslings, Chardonnays and more! The Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail presents its Sips & Soups event on Saturday, Jan. 20, from noon until 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include a souvenir wine glass. In addition, $5 for each ticket sold is donated to local food banks coordinated by Leelanau Christian Neighbors. Sips & Soups sold out in 2016 and 2017, so get your tickets right away, and select from one of three tours, by visiting LPWines.com.

The Sleeping Bear Loop features: Rove Estate of Traverse City serving Mama Lu’s Chicken Tortilla Soup paired with their 2015 Riesling; Bel Lago Vineyards & Winery of Cedar serving a Hearty Beef and Vegetable Soup with Sautéed Mushrooms paired with their North Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013; Good Harbor Vineyards of Lake Leelanau serving Wild Mushroom Pinot Noir Soup paired with your choice of either their Harbor Red or Fishtown White; Laurentide Winery of Lake Leelanau serving Artichoke & Asiago Bisque paired with their Laurentide Dry Riesling 2016; Cherry Republic of Glen Arbor, and Chateau Fontaine of Lake Leelanau serving White Chicken Jalepeño Chili (from Art’s Tavern of Glen Arbor) paired with their Pinot Gris.

The Northern Loop features: Green Bird Organic Cellars & Farms of Northport serving Hungarian Mushroom Soup paired with their Gewürztraminer; Leelanau Wine Cellars of Omena serving a Seafood Chowder paired with their 2013 Chardonnay; Tandem Ciders of Suttons Bay serving Fabada Asturiana soup paired with their Green Man Semi-Dry Cider; 45 North Vineyard & Winery serving Tomato and Israeli Couscous Soup paired with their 45 White; Aurora Cellars of Lake Leelanau serving Sissons Main Street Savory Tomato Basil Soup paired with your choice of their 2014 Pinot Noir or 2014 Pinot Gris; Verterra Winery of Leland serving Chipotle Pumpkin Soup (made from Michigan pumpkins) with toasted pumpkin seeds, Fresh Creme and Cilantro paired with their UnOaked Chardonnay; Boathouse Vineyards of Lake Leelanau; Silver Leaf Vineyard & Winery of Suttons Bay serving Italian Wedding Soup, and French Valley Vineyard and Bistro of Suttons Bay serving Texas chili with House-Smoked Brisket.

The Grand Graverse Bay Loop features: Shady Lane Cellars of Suttons Bay serving Bacon and Sweet Potato Soup paired with “The Project” Viognier; Black Star Farms of Suttons Bay serving Morel Mushroom Bisque paired with their 2016 Arcturos Pinot Gris; Ciccone Vineyard & Winery of Suttons Bay serving White Chicken Chili with Vintner’s Choice; Chateau de Leelanau of Suttons Bay, and L. Mawby of Suttons Bay will give you a complimentary taste when you bring a can of soup to their winery at any time throughout the month of January.
