Glen Arbor Cemetery holds Memorial ceremony

The Glen Arbor Township Cemetery Advisory Board invites the public to attend the third annual Memorial Ceremony on Friday, May 27, at 10 a.m.
This third annual grave dedication will be performed in period attire by John Sawyer of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, in order to honor Civil War veteran Daniel Parker.
The historic Glen Arbor Cemetery has just been cleared of all dead wood in preparation for ground-penetrating radar to locate unmarked graves, which is anticipated to happen next year.
The entire 8th grade from Glen Lake School will participate in Friday’s ceremony, including 44 students. The Cemetery Advisory Board expects 100 attendees at the ceremony.
The service should last around 30 minutes. A dozen chairs will be available for those who need them, including a track chair will be available, courtesy of Friends of Sleeping Bear, to transport those who require assistance on the 300-foot walk in.
Linda Dewey will offer a welcome and introduction of notable guests.

The cemetery is located on the east side of Forest Haven Road precisely 0.4 miles south of M-109. You are welcome to park along Forest Haven Road or up the hill at the trailhead. Please avoid parking in front of the neighboring home.
