Center Gallery features “North”
If there’s a theme to painter Jamie Miller’s work, it’s “the itch for northern Michigan”. The scratch for this Ada, Mich., artist’s itch is his aptly-titled exhibition “North,” which opens May 24 at Glen Arbor’s Center Gallery on Lake Street across from Cherry Republic.
Miller’s love affair with northern Michigan brings him to the area throughout the year. He begins a composition with a photograph — of farm fields, rustic structures, pink light in the sky — and returns to his studio to work out the images. He paints in oil on canvas. Miller attended Kendall College of Art and Design where he was introduced to oil painting. A reception for Jamie Miller will be held Saturday, May 25, at 6 p.m. “North” continues through June 27.
