Dalcher’s Leelanau Landscape

From staff reports

What is Elaine Dalcher’s goal for her Aug. 31-Sept. 13 artist-in-residency with the Glen Arbor Art Association? “Explore, discover, draw and paint daily” the Leelanau landscape. The Grand Rapids artist will talk about her travels through the locality on Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Art Association, 6031 S. Lake St., Glen Arbor.

In addition to painting around the county, Dalcher’s residency will include journaling. Her plan is to combine both media in future compositions that express the “energy of the landscape” as well as the artist’s interior landscape. Dalcher taught art in the Grand Rapids Schools until her retirement in 2010.

The GAAA’s Artist-In-Residence program provides artists with two-week residencies. At the end of their stay, artists present work and talk about their experiences during this period of uninterrupted study. The presentations are open to the public without charge.
